Understanding Your Unique Body
Based on your distinctive genetic make-up, you have different health risks than your neighbor, friend or even close family member! Similarly, a diet or exercise plan that works for your best friend may have the opposite result for you. So, when investigating a health condition or developing a treatment plan to optimize health, it’s important to understand how your unique body operates. Genetic testing allows you to do just that.
Who Should Consider Genetic Testing?
Genetic testing is recommended for anyone who wants to optimize and improve how their body functions. Patients with any of the following common concerns and symptoms may particularly benefit from genetic testing:
- Autism

- Low mood
- Inflammatory conditions
- Osteoporosis
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Fatigue
- Poor memory
- Poor balance
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Miscarriage
- Infertility
- Blood clotting
- Cardiovascular issues
- Immune function
- Dementia
- Migraines
- Nasal congestion
- Irregular menstrual cycles
- Low libido
- Weight issues
- Brain fog
- Adrenal fatigue
Types of Genetic Testing
There are many different types of genetic testing. At Evoke 5, we utilize a series of genetic testing to look at metabolism, optimal exercise and optimal dietary needs:
- The metabolic test looks at 80 genes associated with methylation, detoxification, oxidative stress, neurotransmitters, brain health, vitamins and more. This test gives us vital information on how your body processes certain vitamins/minerals and detoxifies.
- The food test looks at how you process certain foods, your eating behaviors, vitamin deficiencies, food sensitivities and risks based on your unique genes. From weight loss to digestive issues, many genes influence how we respond to different foods and diet approaches.
- The fitness test looks at body strength potential, VO2 max, cardiovascular health and weight loss strategies.
Samples for all three tests are collected using a simple and non-invasive cheek swab, which can be done in-office or at home. Test results are usually returned in five to six weeks.
We do not bill insurance for genetic testing, and the tests are paid for at the time of service. Please contact us office to receive an exact quote or to schedule an appointment.
Your Genes Hold the Key to Optimal Health
After we receive your genetic testing results, our functional medicine doctor will review them carefully, then discuss the results with you. Based on your results, we will then provide personalized recommendations designed to help offset or support your unique genetic tendencies.
While the recommendations don’t specifically diagnose or treat disease, the custom diet, vitamin supplementation and lifestyle recommendations are intended to help you improve your overall health, and many patients see significant improvements in certain conditions.
